Abstract
-
“Mnwere onwe (emancipation)” is an outcome of a performative painting known as Alla Prima of Echo now Alla Prima and Echo. Alla Prima of Echo is well researched PhD gestural painting by Ekeoma Peterkingsley Chimezie. It is a multimedia action painting which synthesizes painting and theatrical elements to talk about societal issues. Employing symbolic colors, cultural music, dance, spoken words, suggestive strokes and some figurative motifs, the action painter highlights and condemns the high level of oppression, suppression, humilitation, marginalization dehumanization and slavery which the Igbo race is fashion with before and even now in Nigeria. Exploring some harmonious sounds, rhythmic- linear impressions, the action painter expresses victory, resilience, hope and calls for the reawakening and freedom of the Igbos.
