The Dominican Institute for the Arts (DIA) is a grassroots collaboration of sisters, friars, laity and associates of the Order of Preachers. They are committed to preaching through the Arts. Member of DIA include painters, musicians, dancers, sculptors, film makers, potters, poets, actors, composers, writers, designers of sacred space, dramatists, any other art forms, and those who appreciate and support the arts. The institute was founded in 1997 when 22 Dominicans and 4 organization members Chris Renz, Lisa Lopez Williams, Rose Marie Hennessey and Armando P. Ibanaz O.P. gathered at St. Albert’s priory, Oakland, California to celebrate God in their work. Since that time they have been gathering at Dominican Centers in Mission San Jose CA, Sinsinawa WI, Adrian MI, Sparkhill NY, Columbus Ohio, New Jersey, Grand Rapids MI, Springfield IL, Oakland CA, Great Bend KA. DIA also has international members many from England, Rome, Africa, and Malta.
