Description

A painting by the artist Alyce Van Acker, OP. An artist statement reads: "“Cademy Curve” is a painting from my maps services. Maps have always held a fascination for me. To me my paintings illustrate my feelings: feelings about places I have been or relationships or events."
-
A short biography accompanying the painting reads: "For more than four decades Alyce Van Acker has offered work in an impressive rage of painting styles, chronicling an artistic journey that continues to evolve.
After HS she joined the Dominican sisters in Adrian MI and studies education, math and science. It was not until after two degrees were completed. That she finally had time to delve into art. Then, while taking art Classes at Northern Illinois University, she received an additional masters degree in painting, Van Acker switched from using oils to working with acrylics which she has continued to use since the late 1970’s.
